- Research shows that Szass Tam was the second Undead. Name the first (alpha) undead.
- Magic had not grown or changed for 1000s of years until SzT broke the rules.
- Focus Magic. Szass Tam discovered and perfected the use of what he called "Focus Magic". He would use a gemstone (the harder and clearer the better; hence diamond) and cast a particular spell into it (This caster known as the "Name" caster). At the same time other wizards (up to 30 called "Power" casters) cast a low-level power sharing spell (SzT created) into the Gem as well. This would create a higher more powerful version of spell than the Name was casting. Example: 5th level wizard could Name cast a fire ball into a gem he holds in hand, and with the help of 10 other 1st level Power casters (within 5 feet x their level of the Name caster) would create a 15th level fire ball. The magic fully directed by the Name caster. Szs Tam hid this for ages. Until now. Can Aramis learn how to use it??

Between all of our allies, THOT needs to find items that will give us Spell Resistance, or a way to Absorb and maybe Re-direct the spell back at its caster.
ReplyDeleteIf SzT uses this Focus magic against us, we will be very hard-pressed to survive his castings. For as long as he surrounds himself with Arcane minions, his spells (and damage) will be thru the roof.
Maybe Aramis could find a "Shatter" spell? or something similar, to shatter/destroy his gems. Just a THOT

ReplyDeleteWhat if we could get our hands on some of them, make some overpowered protection spells to counter act it. Is the spell stored in teh crystals or does it have to be cast right then and there? The ammount of concentration needed for him to do this has to leave everyone involved vulnerable
ReplyDeleteAramis knows that the gem works as a collector and channels the magic in the direction the Name caster chooses. Aramis has NOT found the details yet. As of Hammer 1, 1480, he is through about half the books.

ok I got it....of the beaten track here but if we find the ring of green lantern we could block all his spells and not be affected....due to the fact that gridlock is related to elminster could we get into his spell tower in waterdeep and find someway to battle this?

DeleteI see the reference here. Magic to block SzT magic. Elminsters tower is in Shaddowdale. Somewhat close to your current location. Grid is his Grandson. El is a 30+ level Wizard. Getting in would be VERY hard. However, you are THOT and you've heard that before.

DeleteI just figured that he Sastaum took elminster and what better way to get someone out of the way if they are a threat, is to put them on ice.
